What's happening in the 'Clean' Room - an introduction from Archie McDougall
The Desborough Men's Shed now has a new "clean" room, away from the workshop area, where paintings can be created and left to dry safely. The floor to ceiling glazing on the front provides a great source of natural light.
Painting can be a very relaxing hobby and is accessible to everyone. You don't need to have any formal art training to "have a go". I am completely self taught and favour painting landscapes in oil, but there are a wide range of other mediums such as watercolour and acrylics which some may prefer. Having tried all sorts of painting surfaces such as canvas, oil paper and canvas board my personal preference is painting onto a prepared wood panel. I am not the best carpenter in the world so I just pop next door to the shed workshop with my 4x2 panel from the local DIY store and John and Gary sort me out with cutting to size.
Whatever your ability it would be great to see you at the shed. If we have a group of people painting together with different abilities and styles there is a great opportunity to exchange tips and techniques. If nothing else there will be plenty of tea and coffee drinking!!
